Wealth is a Biblical Principle

Many people have a belief that money is the root of all evil. They think everyone who is rich is most likely corrupt, which most likely means they themselves do not have a good relationship with money. I mean how could you, if you deep down believe that money is evil?

This belief comes from a scripture in the Bible that is often not recited correctly. The verse does not say that money is the root of all evil. Instead it reads "for the LOVE of money is the root of all evil" - 1 Timothy 6:10.

If you love money more than you love God, you have now idolized money over God. The scripture says you can either love God or money, but not both. It is okay to have money, we need it for everything we do! But it only becomes a problem when it is your main focus, when it starts to become more important than God. This comes in many different forms, some you may to even consider, such as you're always working and never have time to actually spend time with God. Or it may be you keep doing things that go against your values, but you were able to make a quick buck. This is when your love is greater for money than it is for God. To truly trust in God means you know that He will provide, without you having to go against His word and your morals to "get to the bag"

There are also other reasons why some people believe God doesn't want them to be wealthy. They use verses like "blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God" - Luke 6:20, to support their reasoning. I believe Jesus was telling the disciples this so they can realize that earthly possessions & wealth is not a reflection as to whether or not you would inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. But it also does not mean that God wants us to be poor.

The reason why the poor are blessed is because that means you have nothing to count on but God during that season. When you have no earthy possessions that make you rich but you have the Kingdom of Heaven to look forward to because of your good deeds, then you're even more blessed because you get to experience a love that most people who are too blinded with their earthly wealth will ever see.

However, I do not believe it is God's will for us to remain in a "poor" position. To be poor is to be needy, and to be needy is to not be able to give because all you do is take. Most of us have been in a position where we need a helping hand, where we may not have been in the best financial situation. Does that make us any less blessed? Of course not. Maybe God was using that situation to be able to humble us or refine us in some way. Maybe He needed to test our heart and make sure after we lost it all, we could still be grateful for Him. We never know the true reasoning why God does certain things in certain seasons of our lives. But to remain in that position of neediness, to remain in a place where you can never be the lender because you are always the borrower, is the most selfish position we could remain in.

The truth is, being poor does not give God glory. But His ability to be able to turn it around for you, gives you the opportunity to give Him glory.

If God wanted us to be poor, He would've never told the Israelites that they would be prosperous. Think about it, what did God always promise those who walked with him?

He always promised them land. In fact the Old Testament is littered with promises of God telling the Israelites they will inherit the land that He is leading them to, all they needed to have is faith. Multiple times throughout the Bible we see God telling the Israelites, "I will bless your children's children." This is generational wealth.

If generational wealth is a Biblical principle, then shouldn't we go to the Bible to truly understand it? As a society we go to everyone else to learn about finances, but we never take it to the one who created it. By no means am I saying to just pray to God and He will make money fall from the sky, but I promise you if you have faith and take it to God He will give you the ideas, creations and dreams that will blossom into that next business venture, that promotion, that next big thing for your life.

God wants this for you and your family. He wants to be able to get the glory for the blessings He will pour into your life, all you have to do is just believe. Have faith that it is He that gives us the ability to produce wealth and continue to send up praises to heaven.

I pray as you read this, you realize God wants to put you in a position of true wealth so you can build His Kingdom. It is God's will for you to obtain wealth so you can be the LENDER and not the BORROWER. So you can put other people in positions to win. So you can create opportunities and be a blessing to others. If you are in a position of neediness right now, I pray that season comes to an abrupt stop and you get an opportunity to show people this type of miracle can only come from God.

I pray once you get all of it, you never stop giving Him the glory. & I pray if you lose all of it again, you still continue to give Him the glory with peace in your heart knowing

"God works all things together for the good of those who love Him." Romans 8:28
